Project Tagalong is being developed with accessibility in mind, using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to guide improvements. Accessibility is ongoing work. This statement is not a claim that every page or third-party player fully conforms to a particular WCAG level.

Reading and getting around

  • Use the “Skip to content” or “Skip to film” link at the start of a page to reach its main content.
  • Links and controls have visible keyboard focus. Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between them, and Enter or Space as appropriate to activate them.
  • The mobile menu can be closed with Escape. Opening a film places focus in its dialog; closing it returns focus to its trigger.
  • Layouts reflow on smaller screens and with larger text. Your browser’s zoom controls remain available.
  • Forms use text labels, required-field validation, and submission status messages.

Motion, films, and transcripts

The site respects your device’s reduced-motion preference. You can also use “Pause motion” in the footer to stop the day-to-night animation while the page is open.

The hero video previews automatically without sound on the homepage. Use its pause control to stop it, or “Watch the video” to open the full player. The preview pauses off screen, in a hidden tab, or while another film is open. Reduced motion keeps the preview still; you can always open the full player yourself.

Films have player controls, and written accounts accompany the archive. Where a transcript is available, open “Read the available transcript” beside the film. Available Vimeo transcripts are automatically generated and may contain errors or omit speech.

Not every film or community upload currently has complete captions, a transcript, or audio description. A written account is context and may not describe every sound or visual detail in a film. Contact us if you need help accessing a particular recording.

Community stories and the map

Community stories can be read in the list as well as explored on the map. Location text accompanies a mapped story. The map has keyboard controls, and adding a pin is optional when you submit.

Please include a description of what can be seen or heard when you share a photo or video. User-provided media and external social players may have accessibility limitations beyond the site’s own interface.

If an embedded post or player is difficult to use, its original-source link offers another way to open it. You can also read the film accounts in the archive.
