Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Project Tagalong (also called “we” or “us”) handles personal information through this website. It covers browsing, community membership, mailing-list signups, stories, uploads, and messages you send to us. Contact us at Info@projecttagalong.com with privacy questions.
Other websites, social platforms, and book retailers have their own privacy practices. This policy describes this website’s features as they work today.
What other visitors can see
Stories appear immediately, without a review before publication. Your display name, story, location, date, and any hometown, map pin or attachment you add are visible to everyone who can access the site. Your email address is excluded from public story responses.
Map coordinates are rounded to one decimal place before storage to show an approximate area. This does not make a story anonymous: your written location, description, hometown, or media may still identify a place or person. The site does not request your device’s GPS location.
Files are shared as uploaded. We do not automatically remove embedded metadata, which can include a recording location, date, or device details. Remove sensitive metadata before uploading. Do not include a home address, another person’s private information, or media you do not have permission to share.
Other visitors may save or share published material. If the site becomes publicly accessible, your contributions may also be discoverable outside the community.
How information is used
We use the information you submit to keep community membership records, display stories and map locations, store and serve attachments, prevent duplicate submissions, respond to messages, and address problems with the site or its content.
Membership details and private story emails are available to those responsible for operating the site and its supporting services. They are not included in the visitor-facing membership or story feed.
Hosting and other services
The site uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting, database storage, and file delivery. Hosting and network providers can process technical request information such as IP addresses, browser details, requested pages, and security logs to deliver and protect their services.
Embedded content comes from Vimeo, Instagram, and TikTok. Their players may receive your IP address, browser information, and information about your interaction, and may use cookies or similar technology. Social previews load as you approach their section. The hero Vimeo preview loads automatically on the homepage when it is on screen and motion is enabled. Other Vimeo players load when opened or when you visit a Vimeo film page. Some thumbnails also load from Vimeo’s image servers before playback.
When social replies are featured here, they may include a public username, comment excerpt, date, and link to the original post.
Read the providers’ policies: OpenAI, Cloudflare, Vimeo, Instagram, and TikTok. Their services may process information in countries other than your own.
Book purchases take place on the retailer’s website. We do not collect your payment-card details through this site.
Mailing list and email choices
The mailing-list form asks for your permission to receive emails from Project Tagalong about new films, books (including The Orb), and updates. The box is not selected in advance. Community members and people who share stories are not automatically added to the mailing list.
The form saves your signup and permission in the site’s database, then opens a prepared email to Info@projecttagalong.com. You must press Send in your own email app to deliver that message. The prepared message includes the email address you entered and the permission wording shown in the form. Your email provider handles delivery under its own privacy practices.
The website does not automatically forward signup notifications, send confirmation emails, or run email campaigns. A saved signup does not confirm that you sent the prepared email. Your address is not displayed to other visitors.
You can withdraw permission or ask to leave the mailing list at any time by emailing Info@projecttagalong.com from the address you used to sign up. Leaving the mailing list does not remove a story you have shared or your separate community membership.
Keeping and protecting information
Community records, mailing-list signups, and uploads do not currently have an automatic expiry. They remain stored until removed. You can request removal using the contact details below. Messages may be kept as needed to address your request and maintain a record of the response.
Hosting access controls and encrypted connections help protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Removing content from the site may not remove copies already saved by others or immediately remove copies held in provider backups.
Your choices and requests
Email Info@projecttagalong.com to ask about access to, correction of, or removal of your personal information or a contribution. Include the story link, if relevant, and the email address used to submit it. Do not send passwords, identity documents, or sensitive information with your initial request.
Requests are handled by email; there is no self-service account or delete button. We may ask for enough information to verify that a request relates to you. Applicable privacy rights depend on your location and circumstances; this policy does not limit those rights.
The “Report a concern” button records a flag. It does not remove a story or send an email notification. Please email us for a removal request or an issue that needs a response.
Children’s information
The community submission and membership features are not designed for children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has shared personal information can contact Info@projecttagalong.com to request its removal.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the updated version and its revision date will appear here. We will provide additional notice or seek permission when required by applicable law.
